What We Do

At this time, the Parekh Family Foundation is engaged in a number of initiatives, which include:
Research Triangle Park Orthopaedic Society (RTPOS)
Since 2007, the RTPOS has focused on establishing a monthly RTP Grand Rounds (from September through June).  Nationally recognized orthopaedic surgeons are invited to speak on emerging technologies and therapeutics.  All three local residency programs, as well as practicing physicians in the area, are invited to these Grand Rounds.
Foot and Ankle Training in India
Every January since 2010, and every June starting in 2013, we take a team from the USA to India to participate in charity surgeries and engage local surgeons in learning the skills of foot and ankle surgery as well as rehabilitation. To date, we have trained over 500 surgeons and performed over 30 charity surgeries, including the first STAR ankle replacement in the history of India.
Gunvant & Bharati College Scholarship
2011, marked the 10-year anniversary of the passing of Bharati Parekh. She was a caring, selfless mother who touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She was a bright woman, educated as a chemist and finishing at the top of her class in Gujarat! Always with a smile, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and human, seeing the best in everything. This scholarship is in her memory for any college student.
Parekh Family Foundation Resident Scholar
Annually, an orthopaedic resident from the USA is selected to participate in the Foot and Ankle training program in India.
Soles for Souls
Starting in 2013, annual drives are conducted to collect used shoes for all ages. These are then taken to India to provide foot wear to those who are in need.
